I'll admit what is abundantly obvious: I love trying new things artistically. From portraits to pet portraits to t-shirt design, I've been evangelical about many different forms of visual expression. My new thing is the single panel cartoon. I've tried to do a single panel a day for the last three months. Here's a sampling... Jump over to my instagram (joshwilsonart) for more.
![]() I love T-Shirts! I love wearing them. I love collecting them. I love designing them. Some of my oldest things in my closet are t-shirts. There are t-shirts that I used to have that I sorely miss. It's only within the last couple of years that I've realized that T-shirts are a great way to share art. And so I will...share my art, I mean. Pictured to the left with the lovely Amanda, I'm calling this T-shirt "Planting Peace". You may pick one up at the Bull Downtown. I also have shirts available at my REDBUBBLE account. Click HERE to see what I have to offer. I've been drawing, both with pencil and pen, a great deal recently. It has taken me back to my teenagerhood, sketching the lazy Miami summers away. Pen and pencils are so immediate. Most of these were quick sketches. Even pencil sketches aren't much erased. Just BAM and finished. Enjoy these and more at The Bull downtown through the month.
In October, I'll hang my newest series of paintings at The Bull Downtown. I've called it "A Portrait of Gainesville" for lack of a better name. Since moving here in '05, I've wanted to paint some of the spaces that I've found interesting - the things that make this town stand out in my mind. Mostly it's the small things that I started to notice: signs, store fronts, a section of street. Most people think that the place where they live is the BEST place, filled with the MOST UNIQUE people. The reality is that Gainesville is no more or less special than Miami or Asheville or any of the other places that I've spent time. But it's those little things that I enjoy, the little out of the way places my family loves, and the little group of friends that I've made that make this place the BEST place for me...until, of course my family and I move to the next BEST place.
